- Breath test are performed every week to assess for intolerance to specific types of sugar in the diet. These include lactose, fructose and lactulose.
- A breath test requires you to drink a dose of the sugar being assessed. If you are unable to absorb it properly, the sugar is metabolised, and hydrogen is expelled in your breath, which is detected in a special machine, somewhat like a 'Breathaliser'.
- The test takes up to 2 hours to complete, so please bring a book to help pass the time.
- More information is available by clicking the following link, 'Hydrogen Breath Testing' information.
